Maulana Fazl and Chaudhry Shujaat discuss the motion of no confidence.
Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), paid a visit to Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), at his residence in Islamabad.
According to a statement released by the JUI-F, both leaders discussed the country’s current political situation and agreed to hold consultations on the no-confidence motion.
The meeting also included Federal Minister for Housing Tariq Bashir Cheema and PML-Q leader Chaudhry Salik Hussian. Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Asad Mahmood, and Maulana Salahudding, leaders of the JUI-F, were also present.
The meeting comes after opposition parties filed a motion of no confidence in Prime Minister Imran Khan in the National Assembly. PM Imran Kahn paid a visit to the PML-Q chief’s residence in Lahore last week to appease the key ally.
Last week, the PML-Q, which is a key ally of the ruling PTI both at the national level and in Punjab, assured the ruling PTI of its support in the face of opposition attempts to depose the prime minister.
On the other hand, the ruling PTI has increased its efforts to thwart the opposition’s no-trust vote against Prime Minister Imran Khan. Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser presided over a meeting of ruling PTI leaders in Islamabad.
Members of the ruling party discussed the opposition’s no-confidence motion as well as the country’s overall political situation. Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, federal ministers Fawad Chaudhry and Murad Saeed, minister of state Farrukh Habib, and senators Faisal Javed and Dr Shehzad Wasim were among those who attended the meeting.
According to a statement released by the ruling party, the PTI and its allies have banded together to defeat the opposition’s no-trust motion, and MNAs will be approached for support.
