A meeting of the executive board of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has approved new investigations against Manzoor Qadir Kaka I.G. former Sindh Jamali and others, on Wednesday.
The NAB Board meeting chaired by its chairman, Javed Iqbal, approved eight investigations, including one against former Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) CEO Manzoor Qadir Kaka, among others.
NAB had previously announced that it would submit a reference to Manzoor Qadir. A spokesman for the anti-graft watchdog said that Qadir and 15 other had been named in the reference to corruption.
Qadir is considered a personal friend of former President Asif Ali Zardari.
Wednesday’s NAB meeting has also approved investigations of former I.G Police Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali, PICIC Karachi officials and Jamshoro Town Nazim.
Judge (Retd) Javed Iqbal, who addressed the meeting, said the cases of mega-corruption would be brought to a logical end.
He said that corruption is a cancer and the biggest obstacle to the country’s development.
He also said that the NAB had already recovered 306 billion rupees and had been deposited in the National Treasury.
