Sourabh Chandrakar: Who Is He?
The ED reported in February that it had searched places including Kolkata, Bhopal, and Mumbai to find a sizable amount of “frozen/seized proceeds of crime worth Rs 417 Crore.”
It stated on Twitter that “ED has conducted searches against the money laundering networks linked with Mahadev APP in cities like Kolkata, Bhopal, Mumbai, etc. and retrieved large amounts of incriminating evidence and has frozen/seized proceeds of crime worth Rs 417 Crore.”
After Chandrakar’s extravagant wedding in the UAE in February of this year raised a few eyebrows, this happened. According to reports, the man used cash to cover his wedding expenses. He used several chartered flights to transport prominent Bollywood performers to his wedding.
Even though Sourabh Chandrakar and his business partner Ravi Uppal are both from Chhattisgarh’s Bhilai, they both run their companies from the United Arab Emirates. Their business is also present in Nepal and Sri Lanka.
There are rumors that the ED will call a number of prominent figures from India’s entertainment sector to question them about their connections to Chandrakar and his shady network.
